F1 News: Mick Schumacher Promises He Will Eventually Be World Champion – “I’ve Always Proved Myself”

Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, was recently dropped by the Haas team. However, he remains optimistic about his future in the sport and has taken on a role as a reserve driver for Mercedes.

Carrying the Schumacher name has certainly presented challenges for the young driver, with high expectations and comparisons to his father’s success. But the German is confident in his own abilities and is determined to make a name for himself in the sport.

In an interview with The Race, Schumacher acknowledged that his time may not have come yet, but he sees his position with Mercedes as an opportunity to prove himself behind the wheel of a top-performing car. While Haas had a successful 2022 season, it is widely recognized that the team’s machinery is not on par with that of championship contenders.

“I have proven everything necessary to show that I can be quick, not only this year but also my previous years in junior categories. I am a Formula 2 and Formula 3 champion, I think people forget that right now.

“I’ve always proved myself in the sense that whatever category I’ve started in, I always got on top of it quite quickly. So I do have a feeling I can get on top of Formula 1 in the sense that I am capable of winning the world championship at the right time, in the right car.”

Schumacher remains hopeful that he will be given the chance to showcase his talents and contribute to the success of Mercedes in the future.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
