F1 News: Mick Schumacher Slams Into Barrier During Wet Japanese GP Practice

It was an early morning for many watching the first two practice sessions of the Japanese Grand Prix, but if you did manage to get up in time, it was an exciting couple of hours by all accounts.

Mick Schumacher was one of many drivers to make a mistake on the treacherous tarmac of the Suzuka, with him losing control of his car after FP1 had come to an end. He lost control before hitting the barrier at a high speed, but fortunately, he was able to pull himself out of the car with next to no issues.

The son of the 7-time world champion has struggled this season with confidence after a number of large shunts in his Haas, but with his future within the sport on rocky ground, this isn’t what he wanted coming into the weekend of this iconic GP.

This will also knock his confidence, as we’ve seen previously, so don’t expect much from the German in the coming couple of days. Haas will also have to fight to get the car ready for qualifying – something that they’ve been able to practice a lot.

Despite this, Schumacher was 7th fastest during FP1, which could hint at Haas being a potent team this weekend, despite the wet conditions.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
