F1 News: Pierre Gasly speaks on his F1 future

Pierre Gasly is still uncertain about which team he will compete with next season, as the 26-year-old awaits confirmation from Red Bull about his availability.

Christian Horner has stated that Red Bull will only release Gasly from Alpha Tauri if Colton Herta is available, so clarification from the FIA on the American’s Super License situation will be key.

There are still positives for Gasly, though, as Red Bull’s interest in Colton Herta as a replacement can only mean that Alpine is interested in acquiring his services for next season.

Speaking to Sky F1 post-race, the Frenchman provided some insight on his future:

“I would say at the moment, this is out of my control. I’m trying to give my best to this team; we know the situation I think Helmut’s been pretty clear. We have conversations.

“These guys have given me my first win in F1 and my first chance in Formula 1. It doesn’t mean I have to stay there my whole life because I’m in Formula 1 to fight at the front, and that’s what I want.

“Five years I’ve been with Alpha Tauri, we’ll see if I do another year there… if this is happening, I’ll give my 110% for this team.

“As it is now, I’m driving for Alpha Tauri next year. I’m happy with that, and in my situation, there is only positives.”
