F1 News: Update On Lewis Hamilton’s Abu Dhabi GP Controversy Coming This Week
It’s been two months since the 2021 Season of Formula 1 came to a controversial end as Max Verstappen was deemed the World Champion at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. But with Mercedes launching an investigation into the final few laps of the race, fans are hoping to hear the results soon. In fact, the FIA were supposed to be revealing its results of the investigation, but so far there isn’t much going on.
Christian Horner, Toto Wolff and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem met in London earlier this week for the F1 Commission meeting, but the results of this are yet to be established. Instead, the FIA only released a very short statement:
“The FIA President led detailed discussions of the 2021 FIA Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Feedback from the Commission on matters raised will be incorporated into the President’s analysis, and he will publicly present news of structural changes and action plan in the coming days.”
It looks as though the FIA isn’t comfortable deciding on anything so far, and have instead turned its efforts to an “action plan”.

The FIA has previously said that all “the findings of this detailed analysis [of the Abu Dhabi investigation] will be presented at the F1 Commission meeting in London on 14th February”.
So, it does sound like things are slowly moving forward with teams and representatives giving their angles to what happened, but more importantly, the FIA statement hints that those at the F1 will have to “present news of structural changes”, so the writing could be on the wall for Michael Masi as Race Director.
