Jeremy Clarkson Believes Nikita Mazepin Should Be Kicked From F1
Jeremy Clarkson wasn’t happy with what Russian F1 driver Nikita Mazepin had to say about the conflict in Russia and Ukraine today. Tens of thousands of fans like his recent tweet where he called Mazepin a “f*****g r****d”, and now he believes he should be kicked from F1 altogether.
As Russia invaded Ukraine, the world was thrown into a state of disarray as people couldn’t believe what was happening. But with there being a Russian GP in the 2022 F1 calendar, fans of the sport began wondering whether this will be affected. Driver Sebastian Vettel revealed that he wouldn’t be driving for the Russia GP out of protest, and it’s now rumoured that Turkey will be taking Russia’s place on the calendar.
But while most were boycotting Russian companies and sponsors, including the American-owned racing team Haas which has now removed its Russian sponsor from its car, Mazepin released a polarising statement:
“I’m not struggling at all, because I’ve always been a big supporter of sports without politics. I’m just very happy to be in Barcelona and I hope these three days are longer because it’s a nice experience.”
The Grand Tour presenter quickly retaliated to this, posting the following to Twitter:
“Nikita Mazepin. You f*****g r****d. Go and race in Russia on your own. You’d still lose.”
This tweet received over 41,000 likes within two hours, and this was quickly followed by a tweet from ex-Top Gear and current Grand Tour scriptwriter Richard Porter.
“Time to kick Nikita Mazepin out of F1,” he wrote. “Nothing to do with the Ukraine situation, he’s just f*****g awful.”
Jeremy unsurprisingly responded to this tweet, agreeing with the sentiment:
“Completely agree,” he tweeted.
Haas, the team that Mikita drives for, released the following statement confirming that hey were removing their Russian sponsor:
“Haas F1 Team will present its VF-22 in a plain white livery, minus Uralkali branding, for the third and final day of track running at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday 25 February.
“Nikita Mazepin will drive as planned in the morning session with Mick Schumacher taking over in the afternoon.
“No further comment will be made at this time regarding team partner agreements.”
