Michael Schumacher: Saddening Update From Neurosurgeon
Michael Schumacher, the extremely talented Formula 1 racing driver was seriously injured in a skiing accident in December 2013 when he cracked his head on a rock. This shock left him with severe brain injuries. And now, although he is out of the coma, a surgeon, Nicola Acciari, claims that he is “very altered” compared to what he used to be.
“We must imagine a person very different from the one we remember on the track, with a very altered and deteriorated organic, muscular and skeletal structure,” said Acciari.
“All as a result of the brain trauma he suffered,” he told Italian newspaper Contro Copertina.
It must be noted that Acciari is not Schumacher’s own surgeon, and he has not treated the F1 champion.
A statement last year revealed that he is making progress and that he enjoys watching Formula 1 on TV. Jean Todt, a close friend of Schumacher, has also confirmed this, saying he is making good progress.
He says: “I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true. I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland.” And while he didn’t push too deeply into f1 racer’s health, he did say that “Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house.
“He does not give up and keeps fighting.”
Todt admitted though that he the Schumacher family are struggling:
“His family is fighting just as much and of course our friendship can not be the same as it once was.
“Just because there’s no longer the same communication as before. He continues to fight. And his family is fighting the same way.”
So sad to hear how seriously ill Michael is. God bless & take care u are hugely missed at the grande prix. Xx Xx 🙏😥❤
My son of 22 has a brain tumor and I am finding it very hard
So, not really a “saddening update” then. Just more speculation and regurgitation of old news…
I really wish we could atleast get a video of him to really see what he’s like..we’ve been hearing the same story for like 6 years now..already give us some kind of detail..can he talk at all? Can he answer questions? Is his learning and cognition impaired and if so, how much? I understand the privacy of him and his family is very important but it would be great to know how he’s actually doing
