Richard Hammond's WorkshopThe Grand Tour

Top Gear and Grand Tour Fans Struck With Nostalgia After Recent News From Richard Hammond

The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond took to his Instagram recently to announce that he is going to be working on the last car he drove on Top Gear in the upcoming episode of Richard Hammond’s Workshop.

The car in question is the MGB GT. Hammond chose the car for the Top Gear episode when he and his co-hosts, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, each purchased a classic European sports car. Joining the MGB GT was Clarkson’s choice of the Fiat 124 Spyder and May’s choice of the Peugeot 304 Cabriolet. The three hosts went off on an adventure and attended a car show, obviously things went wrong along the way, including breakdowns.

From the looks of things, Hammond must have purchased the car from the BBC after it featured on the show and has been in storage since. The former Top Gear host made the announcement on his Instagram where he posted photos from his garage . He captioned the photos saying:

“I’ve got an exciting plan for the last car I drove on Top Gear! Watch this week’s episode of the workshop to see what we’re up to. Link in bio.”

In the second photo we can see the MGB GT in the background. In a recently released video, Hammond revealed that he will be using the MGB GT to race with under the ‘Smallest Cog’ team.

The latest series of his show centred around his workshop, The Smallest Cog, was released on Discovery+ on 17th October.
